The Crucified Man
An older poem, Date unknown

Darkness falls upon the land
While the withering soul of a dying man
Hangs as cold as ice upon his crucifix
That he carried in his own calloused hands

Mourners weep up and down the streets
Entrenched with pity and sorrow
For the one who came to take his life
So they could live tomorrow

Kings have risen and kings have fallen
But never have they ever brought
The gift of life and love so timeless
As the one this prince had for them sought
